I’ve been losing focus (must be because of the weight gain or just because I’ve taken on too many things at once). There’s been a decline in my productivity, and I’m not too happy with it.
So relentlessly, I searched the Interwebz and looked for ways to improve my productivity and get back into focus. I needed help in getting my scattered brain together.
And so I found the Pomodoro technique.
What is it?
The Pomodoro technique “teaches you to work with time, instead of struggling against it.”
I went on Instagram and found that there have been people swearing by how effective the technique is! I just had to try it out.
How does it work?
The Pomodoro technique believes in the notion that taking short, scheduled breaks prevents burnout. It eliminates the feeling of “pushing yourself too hard.”
Whenever a distraction like a sudden urge to check your Facebook News Feed or send someone a text message, the Pomodor technique helps you log these distractions and organize them according to priority. Most of the time, these distractions can wait.
Personally, I use the Tide app to time myself.
This week, I went to 25 minutes of nonstop work and hyperfocus with 5-minute breaks in between. Tide has options for background music: Muse, Cafe, Rain, Forest. You can also turn the sound off and listen to your favorite music on Spotify.
It worked and I love it! I’ve accomplished so many tasks the past two weeks – and it feels amazing!
